The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a challenging year, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.
Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial championship after the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt since March of 2023.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.
His retrieving approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had prompted observers to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was concluded.
But the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.
Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the final five points to take the lead.
The pair traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his initial tour championship, took control to push for a final set.
Moutet saved 4 initial opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.
Suitably, he secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
